2 Liberians caught with fake passports at NAIA
MANILA, Philippines - Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel arrested two Liberian nationals at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday for allegedly using fake Botswana passports as they tried to leave for Canada.
BI Airport Operations Division chief Ferdinand Sampol, in his report to BI Commissioner Marcelino Libanan, said NAIA Terminal 2 immigration supervisor Marie Vitan and members of the Migrant Compliance and Monitoring Group (MCMG) stopped the two Liberian women from boarding a Philippine Airlines flight to Vancouver.
Sampol said the two women, later identified as a mother and daughter, possessed fake Botswana passports under the names of Goitsemodimo Chombo and Diamond Shanice.
The two later admitted that they were Liberian nationals and brought out their genuine passports bearing their true identities, he added. Sampol’s report did not mention the real names of the women.
Libanan congratulated BI personnel at the NAIA-2 for the interception and issued a stern warning to individuals and syndicates that the BI “does not take a break even the Holy Week when it comes to ensuring that fraudulent travel is stopped whenever it happens.” – Rudy Santos
