LTO conducts random checks on bus terminals

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has started to conduct random inspections in bus terminals in Metro Manila to ensure the safety and security of passengers going to the provinces for the Holy Week.

Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Arturo Lomibao said that aside from the random bus terminal inspections, LTO traffic enforcers have been told to strictly enforce traffic rules especially those against the unlawful use of sirens and unauthorized or expired “vanity” car plates.

“LTO will shift from law-enforcement mode to passenger assistance mode,” he said.

Starting last March 21, LTO traffic enforcers and their deputized agents have been deployed to various key areas north and south of Manila to render roadside assistance to motorists going to the provinces.

Lomibao said that he has instructed Ed Cabase, head of the LTO’s law enforcement service, to monitor the flow of traffic on major thoroughfares and assist in the traffic direction and control to avoid traffic jams. Cabase has fielded all available patrol cars and motorcycles for the purpose. – Rainier Allan Ronda
