El Shaddai members go on 'walk of faith'

-

MANILA, Philippines - Thousands of members of the Catholic charismatic group El Shaddai are set to march from the Philippine International Convention Center to the Amvel compound in Parañaque City tonight.

Superintendent Ronald Estilles, Southern Police District acting chief of staff, said around 400,000 are expected to join the 9th “El Shaddai Walk of Faith,” led by evangelist Mariano Velarde, which will start at around 5 or 6 p.m.

The group will go through Macapagal Boulevard, Roxas Boulevard, and NAIA Road to reach the Amvel compound, which El Shaddai spokesman Mel Robles said will be their new home. The group will occupy half of the roads’ southbound lanes during the march.

Estilles said the group’s members will be wearing white and would carry palm leaves that would be blessed after a Mass at Amvel.      – Evelyn Macairan, Rhodina Villanueva
