Makati firms told to switch to licensed software

- Alexis Romero -

MANILA, Philippines - The Pilipinas Anti-Piracy Team (PAPT) has given Makati City companies using pirated software until March 26 to switch to licensed software programs.

The PAPT said it will raid establishments that continue to use unlicensed software beyond March 26.

The PAPT said the crackdown will begin on March 29 in Makati but will cover other areas such as Pasig and Muntinlupa cities and other business centers outside Metro Manila.

The Optical Media Board, a member of PAPT, said erring businessmen may be meted fines as high as P1.5 million or jailed for up to nine years.
