Cop relieved from post leads NCRPO awardees
MANILA, Philippines - A police colonel who was recently relieved from his former post at the Manila Police District (MPD) for his alleged partisan political activities leads the list of awardees as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) celebrates today the 19th founding anniversary of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP chief Director General Jesus Verzosa will hand over the Lead PNP Award of the Year 2009 to Superintendent Romulo Sapitula during simple rites today at the parade grounds of the NCRPO in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
Sapitula is the former commander of Station 5 in Ermita, Manila who was accused of engaging in partisan politics by the camp of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.
Sapitula was relieved from his post but not before he was chosen as the Best Station commander during the recent MPD anniversary celebration.
NCRPO chief Director Roberto Rosales said Sapitula is now the head of the Regional Headquarters Security Group.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) was adjudged as the Model City Maneuver Unit of the Year while the Marikina police station was chosen as the Model Urban Police Station.
Rosales said the QCPD and Marikina City police were chosen in their respective categories for the third year in a row.
