MANILA, Philippines - A worker who recently lost his arm in a job-related accident was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Navotas City Saturday.
Ernesto Mondad, 50, a resident of Barangay North Bay Boulevard North, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the head and face.
Police Officer 1 Marcos Cuyme said the incident occurred at around 1 p.m. in front of the victim’s house.
Mondad was having his lunch on a makeshift table outside his house when two men onboard a motorcycle without a license plate arrived.
One of the gunmen alighted from the motorcycle and approached Mondad with a drawn handgun and shot him twice. The two men then fled.
Cuyme said that Mondad’s neighbors described him as a nonviolent man with no known enemies in their area.
They also said that Mondad was recently dismissed from his job after he lost his left arm. He has an ongoing case with his former employer, Cuyme said.
