Fire hits elementary school

MANILA, Philippines - Fire razed an elementary school in Quezon City yesterday morning where a still undetermined worth of property were damaged.

Quezon City Fire Marshall Bobby Baruelo said no one was killed or hurt in the blaze which started at around 10:13 a.m. He said the fire started at the library of the Bagbag Elementary School in Novaliches allegedly after power was restored following a brownout.

Baruelo said firefighters managed to put the blaze out at around 10:55 a.m., though some 10 classrooms were damaged. “We are still investigating,” he told The Star noting that Senior Fire Officer 2 (SFO2) Fortunato Alde has been tasked to handle the probe.

Baruelo said classes at the Bagbag Elementary School had to be suspended because of the fire which reached fourth alarm.               – Michael Punongbayan
