OFW, cousin die in Caloocan road mishap
MANILA, Philippines - A vacationing overseas Filipino worker (OFW) and his cousin died when a speeding 10-wheeler cargo truck sideswiped their motorcycle in Caloocan City early yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Ricardo Villanueva, Caloocan City police traffic investigator, identified the victims as cousins Joel Domingo, 37, and Noel Domingo, 40, both residents of Fortune Village in Valenzuela City.
Noel, who was on vacation from his job in Abu Dhabi, died of multiple head and body injuries at the Manila Central University Hospital while Joel died on the spot.
Villanueva said the victims were on their way home to Valenzuela City riding in tandem on a Honda motorcycle (ZR 2012) when they were sideswiped by a cargo truck (CWC-695) driven by Bernard Adducul, 31, along MacArthur Highway near Monumento at around 2:30 a.m.
The victims and their motorcycle fell on the pavement and were run over by the delivery truck.
“Their motorcycle flipped under the delivery truck and was drag several meters away. Both victims sustained severe injuries as they were also pinned down by the truck’s rear tires,” Villanueva told The STAR.
Adducul, a resident of San Ildefonso, Bulacan, surrendered to the police and is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide. – Pete Laude
