3,000 join Gibo fun run
MANILA, Philippines - Around 3,000 runners supporting the presidential bid of Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. participated in a fun run at The Fort in Taguig City yesterday.
“I am humbled by the number of volunteers present here today,” Teodoro said, as he ran alongside the volunteers clad in Teodoro’s signature color, green. The run is dubbed “Go Green, Takbo Para sa Pagbabago.”
Joining Teodoro in the early morning run, which has three-kilometer and five-kilometer categories, is his wife, Rep. Tarlac 1st District Rep. Nikki Prieto-Teodoro, and Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita.
Ermita’s presence doused speculations on the supposed falling out of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD elders and leaders.
“This signals the snowballing of support. Rest assured that we will repay the trust of the people,” Teodoro said, adding that the outpouring of support “shows that efforts of disseminating information about our platform of governance are bearing fruit.”
Teodoro, who said he plays golf but does not run, is convinced that his poll survey rating would steadily increase as the elections draw near.
“I can see it, my rating is rising, but we will only know the results on election day,” he said in response to questions over his chances of winning in the upcoming presidential polls despite his poor survey rating.
Teodoro said the people have become thinking voters and that they would decide based on the platform of governance laid down by the presidential candidates.
Meanwhile, Teodoro announced yesterday that he has already ordered the withdrawal of one of his television advertisements using the tune of “Posible” by Rico Blanco.
“We have pulled it out so there would be no more legal debates. But they should not say we did not have the right” to use the song, he said.
Teodoro maintained that they obtained the rights from a certain Greg Garcia to use the song. – Jaime Laude
