2 cops nabbed for gun ban violation

-

MANILA, Philippines - Two police officers were arrested at a checkpoint in Caloocan City Wednesday for violating the gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections.

Metro police chief Director Roberto Rosales said Chief Inspector Marilen Principe of the Regional Health Service and Police Officer 2 Exur Magnate of the Manila Police District’s traffic enforcement group became two of the latest to be arrested for gun ban violation since it was imposed Jan. 10.

Rosales ordered the confiscation of Principe’s and Magnate’s issued firearms and the filing of appropriate charges against them.

Chief Superintendent Mike Laurel, chief of directorial staff of the National Capital Region Police Office, said Principe and Magnate were wearing blue police athletic uniforms.

Rosales said police personnel are only exempted from the gun ban when they are wearing their GOA or general office attire uniform.  – Non Alquitran
