-

MANILA, Philippines - At least four persons were injured when a two-story ancestral house collapsed in Parañaque City early yesterday.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Alfredo Valdez said Carlos de Jesus, 45; Caren Joy de Jesus, 23; Carlo de Jesus, 18; and Carl Brian de Jesus, 14, sustained minor injuries when the house caved in at around 4 a.m. Carl Brian’s feet were pinned by pieces of the bathroom floor.

Barangay tanods reported the incident and sought police assistance to rescue the victims from the house along Quirino Avenue in Dongalo Village.

Members of the Parañaque rescue team and the Philippine National Red Cross rescued the victims and rushed them to the Parañaque Community Hospital and the San Juan de Dios Hospital.

Neighbors said the De Jesus family’s house is very old and its second floor had been weakened by a fire some time ago and left unrepaired.   – Rhodina Villanueva
