NPD sees surge in post-holiday heists

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Northern Police District (NPD) yesterday directed its operatives and its four police chiefs to double visibility patrols in anticipation of more robbery cases after the long holidays.

“The holiday season has ended and lawless elements have no more money so we must double our visibility, mobile and foot patrols, because they would again operate to replenish their pockets,” Senior Superintendent Wilson Amper told NPD police officers.

Amper ordered the Special Weapons and Tactics team, District Mobile Force, and the NPD intelligence unit, including that of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela to also “closely watch” bus terminals, malls, and other “areas of convergence” in their respective jurisdictions to protect returning vacationers from criminals. – Pete Laude
