New SLMC branch to open before yearend

MANILA, Philippines - An official of the Taguig City government announced that the newly built branch of the St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) at The Fort is ready to serve the public before the year ends.

Councilor Allan Paul Cruz said the SLMC at The Fort, Global City will have a soft opening before December comes to a close.

“ What is wonderful news is that this hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities comparable to those that can be found in hospitals in other countries,” he said.

Cruz said the new hospital occupies a 1.5-hectare area.

“Once it becomes operational, it will also start promotion of its medical tourism facilities where doctors from abroad can come here and operate on patients, perform surgeries using available modern facilities,” he said.

With the opening of the new SLMC branch and the relocation of banks, embassies and other establishments to the city, Taguig has been earmarked as an upcoming center for industrial and commercial development by the business community, Cruz said.

He noted that this will help the city in achieving its target of becoming a premiere business district by year 2020.

In 2006, the city council passed a new Taguig Revenue Code that lowers annual business taxes paid by banks and other financial institutions, auto dealers, hotels, information technology or IT-related services to attract more investments into the city. – Rhodina Villanueva
