Taguig vows to improve service delivery

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Taguig City government has pledged to improve the delivery of basic social services through the Taguig Citycard after the program was in the recent Galing Pook Awards.

The Taguig Citycard systematizes the enrolment of residents to a comprehensive system that cuts doctor’s fees, grants college scholarships to the youth, provide decent housing for the homeless, and offers free burial to indigents.

For Taguig residents, the Citycard comes for free. But for non-Taguig residents working in the city, their employers are charged an annual fee of P750 per non-resident employee.

Taguig Mayor Sigfrido Tiñga said the Citycard is one way of building a lasting partnership with the private sector by way of corporate social responsibility.

“The Citycard is the perfect way to encourage the business community to take part in the social development of the city. This way, the city government continues to improve its services to the people despite our low tax rates,” Tiñga said, adding that Taguig has one of the lowest business taxes imposed by any local government in the country today.

This is one of the reasons why the World Bank cited Taguig as the best place to do business in the Philippines, he said.
