Ex-convict killed
MANILA, Philippines - An ex-convict was shot dead by a sus-pected holdupper late Sunday afternoon in Parañaque City.
Senior Superintendent Alfredo Valdez, Parañaque police chief, identified the victim as Michael Rivero, 36, single and resident of No. 15054 A. Rodriguez street, San Agustin Village, Barangay Moonwalk, Parañaque City.
Rivero was brought by witnesses at the Parañaque Doctors Hospital but expired while undergoing treatment.
Initial investigation showed that the victim, together with him companions identified as Cesar Babasa, 34, married, of San Agustin Village, Barangay Moonwalk, Parañaque; Ryan Apaap, 28, single and resident of No. 210 Road, Pildera 2, Pasay City; and Willie Mingallo, 30, single and resident of No. 156 3rd street, Pildera 2, Pasay City, were engaged in a conversation in a vacant lot in Barangay Moonwalk.
After a few minutes, Rivero suddenly fell on the ground after the unidentified suspect shot him at close range. The latter hurriedly left the place on board a motorcycle.
Valdez said the suspect intends to declare a holdup but when he saw that the victim has several companions, he just shot at Rivero. The victim reportedly has a previous case of robbery. – Rhodina Villanueva
