Man killed as wife shops
MANILA, Philippines - A middle-aged man was shot dead in his car while waiting for his wife, who was buying supplies at a market in Balintawak in Quezon City yesterday.
Dionisio Pascual Jr., 45, sustained four gunshot wounds in his head and body from the attack. His body was discovered at around 4:30 a.m. yesterday.
Police said Pascual was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police Officer 3 Randy Escobido said the initial motive they were looking into was robbery since the wallet Pascual’s wife left with him was missing.
The police have yet to identify Pascual’s attacker.
According to Escobido, the victim, his wife Jocelyn and a male helper went to the market in Balintawak at around 3 a.m.
Escobido said going to the market before dawn was a daily ritual for the couple, who reside in Project 6 and operated a canteen.
The police investigator said the victim was left sleeping in their black Nissan Frontier, which was parked along a dimly lit street with its windows open.
When the wife came back after more than an hour, she was surprised when people were gathered around their vehicle. It was then that she found out what had happened to her husband.
Escubido said no one among those outside claimed they saw what happened since the vehicle was parked on a dark portion of the road.
He also said it was still not clear how much amount was inside the missing wallet. – Reinir Padua
