Taguig traffic rerouted for Pyro Olympics

MANILA, Philippines - The Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. (FBDC) announces traffic rerouting at the Global City in Taguig today to give way to spectators expected to troop to the World Pyro Olympics (WPO) 09.

Noel Kintanar, head of FBDC’s commercial operations, said 32nd Street would be closed but assured the public that traffic will be eased through alternate ways for those trekking to the event site.

FBDC has designated parking areas for audiences during the five-day event on Saturday, and on Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 12 and 19: Dela Rosa 1 and 2, Solaris, Parksquare 1, McKinley Hills in Makati City; McKinley Hills, Taguig and Philippine Army Compound, Lawton Avenue at Fort Bonifacio.

Shuttle buses will leave every 30 minutes starting at 2 p.m. from pickup and drop-off points along Ayala Avenue (in front of Rustan’s), McKinley Hills, and C5 (near Levi Mariano) in Taguig.

The WPO is billed the “most awaited event of the year’’ and is expected to wow the crowds with a new format, the pyro musical, where fireworks displays are synched to music.

For five weekends, pyrotechnics experts from South Korea, China, Germany, Australia, Japan, Italy, Canada, United States, and defending champion Italy will dazzle the Filipino audience along with a Philippine exhibition by La Mancha Group International (LMGI), which won second place Technical Jury Award at the Zagreb International Fireworks Festival earlier this year, on the last day.
