MANILA, Philippines - A robbery suspect was shot dead after he pointed his gun at policemen and his accuser in Quezon City yesterday.
Found in the possession of slain suspect Sac Aniciete was the cell phone he allegedly took at gunpoint from complainant Mark David Olfindo at around 4 a.m. at North EDSA.
Aniciete was armed with a .38 caliber revolver he allegedly pointed at police officers of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 2, who accosted him at the corner of Baler and Rest Haven streets in nearby Barangay Bungad.
Olfindo told reporters he was waiting for a ride when the suspect threatened him with the handgun and took his phone. After the suspect walked away with the loot, Olfindo went to the QCPD Station 2. Policemen led by Senior Inspector Richard Nepamia accompanied the victim to scour the areas surrounding the site of the robbery.
They found the suspect walking at the corner of Baler and Rest Haven streets. Olfindo pointed to Aniciete as the one who mugged him. Policemen got off their vehicle and introduced themselves. Aniciete, however allegedly pulled the handgun tucked into his waistband and pointed at the policemen, who shot at the suspect. – Reinir Padua
