Christmas bonus released to Navotas government employees

-

MANILA, Philippines - Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco announced yesterday the immediate release of the Christmas bonus to all city government employees.

Tiangco said the cash bonus include half of the 13th month pay and P2,500 cash gift for each employee.

The announcement was made in an emergency meeting yesterday.

City Treasurer Manny Enriquez said funds are already available and will be released within the week in preparation for the coming Christmas holidays.

“We want to give this early in reward for our city hall employees’ excellent performance. We want also to avoid the Christmas rush and pre-empt the price increases associated with the holiday season. This is an early gift to our local public servants,” said Tiangco.

Acting Human Resource Management Officer (HRMO) Catalina Furo said the city government employs 1,685 employees.

Tiangco said that despite the current economic crisis, the city government would make this Christmas really happy not only for local government workers but to the common Navoteños as well.

The Committee for the Christmas celebration is now preparing the activities for the holiday under the theme “Kinabukasan ay ating pag-handaan, Isapuso’t isaisip ang diwa ng Kapaskuhan.”

The City Social Welfare and Development Office is now also preparing for the traditional “Ham for the Poor” program.

A giant Christmas tree along C-4 road is being set-up, lights and lanterns would be installed on the grounds of the city hall and all the main roads.

Barangay officials are also preparing for the annual search for Makinang na Barangay ngayong Kapaskuhan.   – Jerry Botial
