1 dead, 5 hurt as van turns over along SLEX

MANILA, Philippines - A person died and five others were injured when the van they were riding went out of control and turned over along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Muntinlupa City yesterday afternoon.

Initial reports identified the fatality as Cres Mingransa of Angono, Rizal. Mingransa was declared dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa.

The five other victims, who were not yet identified, were brought to the same hospital for treatment.

Senior Police Officer 4 Mario Ocampo the Isuzu Canter (UAV-260) was on SLEX’s northbound lane in Barangay Bayanan when it developed mechanical trouble at around 2:30 p.m. The driver was reportedly unable to control the vehicle, which then turned over. The passengers were thrown out of the van, and the driver escaped.

Ocampo said a follow-up investigation is being conducted on the incident.   – Rhodina Villanueva
