Manila's traffic rerouted for All Saints' Day

MANILA, Philippines - Some of Manila’s major roads leading to its four cemeteries shall be closed to traffic starting Saturday until Monday, the District Traffic Enforcement Unit announced yesterday.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, the roads that shall be temporarily closed are the stretch of Aurora Boulevard from Dimasalang to Rizal Avenue, Blumentritt from A. Bonifacio to P. Guevarra, Dimasalang from Makiling to Blumentritt, Retiro from Dimasalang to Blumentritt extension, P. Guevarra from Cavite to Pampanga and Leonor Rivera from Cavite to Aurora Boulevard.

All vehicles bound for the North Cemetery and coming from Rizal Avenue-Blumentritt shall take Cavite right L. Rivera or Isagani right to Antipolo. Those coming from Quezon City shall turn left Blumentritt, left Makiling.

Traffic chief Superintendent Rizaldy Yap said the streets of Craig, Simon, Felix Huertas, Sulu, Oroquieta and Metrica are designated as parking areas.

Vehicles bound for La Loma and Chinese cemeteries and coming from España shall take A.H. Lacson, Tayuman, Blumentritt from Cavite to Aurora Boulevard and take either Rizal Avenue or Jose Abad Santos. Vehicles coming from Quiapo, Sta. Cruz, Tondo and Caloocan shall take J.A. Santos or Rizal Avenue extension.

All vehicles coming from Caloocan and Quezon City going to Pier North shall take C-3 towards J.A. Santos or Radial Road. Those going to Pier South shall take D. Tuazon or Mayon street towards España-G.Forbes or to Quiapo as alternate routes.

Vehicles going to North, La Loma and Chinese cemeteries coming from north and south of Manila shall take Rizal Avenue from Recto.

Yap said traffic enforcers will be deployed to guide motorists on their way to the four cemeteries.   – Nestor Etolle
