Trike driver shot dead at CCP complex

MANILA, Philippines - A tricycle driver was shot dead near the Manila Film Center building at the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex in Pasay City Monday night.

Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta said security guards found the body of Emilio Villas slumped in his tricycle (UZ-2512), his mouth stuffed with a handkerchief, at around 8:55 p.m. He sustained two gunshot wounds in the head.

Petrasanta said prior to the discovery of Villas’ body, security guard Wendy Solomon, 29, detailed at the Timor entrance of the Film Center, noticed the tricycle was roaming around area. After a few minutes, she heard the sound of gunfire coming from a dimly lit portion of the building.

Solomon and another security guard rushed to the area and saw the victim in the tricycle. They reported the shooting to the police.

Recovered from the crime scene were three shells and a deformed .45 caliber slug.

A witness, who refused to be identified, said an unidentified man boarded the victim’s tricycle at a terminal along Tolentino street at around 7 p.m. This was reportedly the last time the victim was seen alive.

A check made by police showed the tricycle is owned and registered to Nelia Dalina, 39, a resident of Facundo street in Pasay City.
