Missing truck recovered, sans P1.5-million hygiene products

- Pete Laude -

MANILA, Philippines - A delivery truck that was reported missing in Quezon City Friday was found in Navotas City the following day with its cargo of P1.5 million worth of personal hygiene products gone.

The truck driver, Rolando Liporado, 37, and his helper Eden Bansag, 26, remain missing.

Police Officer 2 Michael Mortel of the Navotas City police said the empty cargo truck (TWS-951) was found at around 11 a.m. along Road 10 in Barangay Bangkulasi.

Mortel said the delivery truck left the Roadway Corp. office in Balintawak, Quezon City at around 3 p.m. Friday to pick up a shipment of assorted Unilever products worth P1.5 million at the firm’s distributor service office in Bagumbayan, Libis.

Liporado and Bansag were supposed to return the truck to the Balintawak office by 5 p.m., but failed to do so. Gloria Balingit, Roadway Corp.’s liaison officer, told police that they tried to contact the mobile phones of Liporado and Bansag but to no avail.

The company sent its personnel to Liporado’s house in Caloocan and Bansag’s in Pasig, but according to their relatives, the two have yet to return home since reporting for work last Friday.
