PNP employee loses P1 million to burglars

MANILA, Philippines - A Philippine National Police employee lost more than P1 million in cash and valuables to burglars who broke into her house in Barangay Masagana, Quezon City.

Imelda del Rosario-Osana, 43, who works as a civilian employee of the comptroller accounting division in Camp Crame, lost P50,000, a laptop worth P35,000 and jewelry worth more than P1 million.

Osana told police she and her two children lock up the house and leave at around 6 a.m. everyday and return at around 6 p.m.

Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, deputy head of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said Osana reported the loss after she discovered the burglary at around 6 p.m. Thursday upon arriving home.

He said the burglars destroyed the padlock on the house’s steel gate and kicked open the front door. The suspects then proceeded to ransack the master’s bedroom. – Reinir Padua
