Teen electrocuted while installing 'jumper'

MANILA, PHilippines - A 17-year-old boy died of electric shock while allegedly installing an illegal electrical connection, better known as a “jumper,” in Barangay Pulang Lupa Dos, Las Piñas City before dawn yesterday.

Senior Police Officer 1 Crisando Calatay said Armando Ramos was setting up the illegal electrical connection to a Manila Electric Co. post along St. Peter street in St. Joseph subdivision when he was electrocuted.

Concerned residents rushed Ramos to the Zarate General Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival. The body was afterwards brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for autopsy. Police investigators recovered a pair of pliers at the scene.        – Rhodina Villanueva
