Quezon City court orders Valera sent to jail

MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City regional trial court (RTC) has ordered the transfer of former Abra governor Vicente Valera from the Philippine National Police (PNP) hospital to the Quezon City Jail yesterday.

Court staff at the Quezon City RTC Branch 84, which issued an arrest warrant against Valera in connection with the murder of his political rival, Abra congressman Luis Bersamin Jr., said the commitment order was issued at 11 a.m. yesterday.

The PNP’s public information office said Valera was transferred to the jail at around 8:05 p.m.

Superintendent Nestor Velasquez, jail warden, said no special treatment will be given to Valera. – Reinir Padua, Mike Frialde
