LRTA gets medical aid for male staff

MANILA, Philippines - The Light Rail Transit Authority will get medical assistance that will help their male personnel and train drivers of LRT Lines 1 and 2, address prostate problems.

Salutare Inc., the local distributor of Sunburst saw palmetto natural food supplement already popular in the United States and Europe, has pledged to donate 10 to 20 boxes of their product that is to relieve symptoms of enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Hans Santos, director of Salutare, Inc., said that the donation was targeted to benefit the male personnel and hopefully raise prostate heath consciousness and awareness among LRTA male employees.

“This donation is to recognize the efforts of the LRTA in keeping LRT Lines 1 and 2 running efficiently for the benefit of the hundreds of thousands of commuters who take their trains every day,” Santos told The Star.

Santos noted that Sunburst supplement may come in handy especially for those already suffering from enlarged prostate and thus suffer difficulty in urination.

Enlarged prostate or BPH, it was learned, usually appear in men who reach the age of 40 who start to experience hormonal changes which cause the start of the symptoms of BPH.

Although not life threatening, BPH is said to cause much discomfort especially in urination. It could also lead to worse diseases like kidney and prostate cancer.
