Taguig cops file charges vs Embassy bar bouncers

MANILA, Philippines - The Taguig police filed a case of obstruction of justice against an official and three bouncers of the Embassy Supperclub and Embassy Cuisine for reportedly not turning over a man who allegedly stabbed a customer in the bar’s premises.

In a complaint filed before the Taguig City prosecutor’s office, the police alleged that assistant manager Constante Parayno; and bouncers Gilbert Rempis, Gilbert Battung and Filemon de Leon did not turn over Kilkilan Jimenez and kept vital information concerning the incident.

“They failed to properly endorse the suspect to the police by keeping silent as well as refusing to give important details concerning the incident. They were found to be administratively liable because of their incompetence as well as giving special treatment to the suspect by providing him VIP security and not turning him over to the nearest police precinct,” a police report said.

Taguig police chief Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan said Jimenez was escorted through the back door while the victim, businessman Dennis Navarro, 34, was the one made to pass through the main entrance after he was stabbed at around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 18.

He also recommended setting up a police desk in the bar, and have the bar’s bouncers and security personnel undergo a refresher course on procedures involving arrests, criminal procedure, search and seizure and preservation and handling of evidence.

Embassy bar officials said they do not tolerate any wrongdoing by any of the bar’s employees. – Rhodina Villanueva
