Guard collared for botched theft
MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested a security guard during a foiled robbery attempt of a grocery store before midnight Saturday in Caloocan City.
Senior Superintendent Jude Santos, Caloocan City police chief, identified the suspect as Jobert Quinlog, 41, a resident of Antipolo City.
Investigation showed that Quinlog arrived at the Super 8 grocery store warehouse on Rizal Avenue Extension, Caloocan City at around 11 p.m.
Quinlog asked fellow security guard Richard Caro, 31, who at that time was the one manning the warehouse for his weapons, a .38 revolver and a shotgun purportedly to inspect them.
As Caro handed to Quinlog his firearms, the suspect reportedly struck him in the nape with his revolver. Caro was rendered unconscious by the blow and the suspect entered the warehouse by sawing the padlocked door.
Quinlog dragged Caro inside but while he was scouring for loot, Caro regained consciousness and furtively crawled out and again locked the warehouse’s door outside.
Caro immediately called the Police Community Precinct 6 for assistance resulting in Quinlog’s arrest. – Pete Laude
