Makati councilor's wife dies at 29

MANILA, Philippines - The wife of Makati Councilor Erwin “Jun-Jun” Binay Jr. passed away after being confined for more than a month due to a difficult pregnancy. She was 29.

In a statement, Makati’s Information and Community Relations Department chief Joey Salgado said Kennely Ann Lacia-Binay died at 12:06 p.m. yesterday at the Makati Medical Center.

He said her baby survived, but is in guarded condition.

Ken-ken, as she was fondly called by loved ones and friends, left behind three children: Jejomarie Alexi, 6; Maria Isabel, 3; and Jejomar II, 1.

Salgado said Ken-ken’s wake will be at 8776 Banuyo street in San Antonio Village, Makati City.

“Details of the interment will be announced later. The family requests prayers for the eternal repose of her soul,” Salgado said.        – Jose Rodel Clapano
