Toddler's body found in Pasig River

-

MANILA, Philippines - The body of a two-year-old boy who reportedly fell into a creek in Mandaluyong City at the height of a downpour Thursday was fished out at the Pasig River in Sta. Mesa, Manila early yesterday.

John Michael Cultura, of Nueve de Pebrero, Mandaluyong City, was identified by his father, Ramsy, at a Manila funeral parlor.

Witnesses said they saw the boy playing along Acacia Lane when slipped and fell into an open creek and failed to surface.

Divers from the Philippine Coast Guard tried to retrieve the body but gave up due to the strong currents.

According to Police Officer 1 Gerry Amores, boatman Rudy Tenson discovered the body of a boy floating in the Pasig River near Sta. Mesa, Manila at around 6 a.m. The body was clad only in a blue undershirt. – Nestor Etolle
