Operasyon sa Pier paralisado

MANILA, Philippines - Makaraang ilunsad ng Alliance of Concerned Truck Owners Organization (ACTOO) at Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines (CTAP) ang “indefinite strike”, paralisado kahapon ang ope­ras­yon sa lahat ng daungan sa bansa.

Ayon kay Ricky Papa, Pre­sidente ng ACTOO, hinihiling nila na buwagin na lamang ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) siba­kin ang hepe nitong si PASG Chief Antinio “Bebot” Villar.

Inakusahan ni Papa si Villar, nang pangingidnap ng mga kargamento ng mga importer at ipinatutubos sa halagang P20,000 sa 20 footer van, habang P40,000 naman sa 40 footer van,kahit binigyan na ng go signal ng Bureau of Custom (BOC) na lumabas sa Pier.

Nagbanta ang ACTOO na hindi titigil ang iba’t ibang trucking association sa pagsasa­gawa ng strike, hanggat hindi nasisibak sa puwesto si Villar.

Sinabi ni Papa, na sa kani­lang asosasyon,umabot sa may 4,000 trucking na bumibiyahe kada araw, ang hindi bumiyahe ngayon. Samantalang sinabi naman ni Agapito Mendez Jr., President ng Professional Custom Brokers Association of the Philip­pines,na 5,000 professional brokers ang lumahok sa kanilang “indefinite strike”.
