Robbers barge into Darius Razon's house

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines - Four armed robbers barged into the house of Mandaluyong City Councilor Darius Razon yesterday, hogtying him, his two granddaughters and their housemaid before leaving with an undetermined amount of money.

Senior Superintendent Carlos de Sagun, Mandaluyong City police chief, said they are hunting down a certain Vincent, a teenager whose name was mentioned by one of the suspects before leaving Razon’s house on Payapa street in Barangay Plainview.

De Sagun said the suspects, armed with knives, barged into Razon’s house at about 7:30 a.m. They tied up Razon’s housemaid, a certain Linda, in the kitchen.

De Sagun said three of the suspects proceeded to the second floor where Razon and his two 8-year-old granddaughters were sleeping in one room. The suspects hogtied Razon and the two girls. Razon told police he pleaded for their lives.

Razon “told the suspects to get what they want and not to harm him and the two girls,” De Sagun said.

The suspects replied they only needed money. Razon pointed to where he kept his money, which the suspects grabbed before escaping.

On their way out of Razon’s room, however, one of the suspects shouted at his companions, “Let’s go, Vincent.”

De Sagun said the suspects commandeered a tricycle, whose driver is currently in police custody.

According to De Sagun, they presented to Razon a certain Vincent and two other teenagers but the victim failed to identify them.

De Sagun said a lot of people go in and out of Razon’s house everyday. “He was entertaining his constituents and besides he has a die-cutting business at the back of his house so people were around at all time,” he said.

De Sagun believes the robbers were known to Razon because they wore masks and the Razons’ dog did not bark at them.
