Businesswoman loses P4 million to burglars

-

MANILA, Philippines – A businesswoman lost P4 million in cash and valuables to burglars who broke into her family’s house in Barangay Greater Lagro, Quezon City during Friday’s downpour.

Normita Bonilla reported the loss Friday night to the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit. She said the suspects took away P1.5 million and pieces of jewelry worth P2.5 million.

Bonilla, 63, also told police that she lost five land titles and several other documents kept in a safety vault in one of the rooms.

In her complaint, Bonilla said she and her family were staying at their other house in Novaliches, and their Lagro house was unattended.

When they came back Friday night, they found that the house had been broken into and the money and the valuables missing.

Senior Police Officer 1 Leo Tabuena said they have yet to identity the burglars, who gained entry by destroying the lock on the back door.

He said the burglars also destroyed the lock on the door of the master’s bedroom and took the safety vault with them. – Reinir Padua
