-

MANILA, Philippines - Police are investigating the murder of a 39-year-old man who was shot by an attacker who barged into his house in Las Piñas City Monday night.

Senior Police Officer 2 Aristotle Raquion identified the victim as Antonio Barnes, 39, a resident of Tramo Street in Manuyo Uno, Las Piñas City.

Initial investigation showed that around 8 p.m., the suspect barged into Barnes’ living room and shot him while he and his family were watching television.

The suspect fled but met the victim’s 41-year-old brother, Joselito, a pedicab driver, on the street. The suspect shot at Joselito but missed. He rode a motorcycle driven by a cohort and sped towards Real street.

Barnes was initially brought to the Las Piñas District Hospital for treatment but was later transferred to the Philippine General Hospital.

Recovered from the crime scene were four .45 caliber shells and a deformed slug.

Raquion said a follow-up investigation is being conducted to determine the motive for the killing.  – Rhodina Villanueva
