1 dead, 1 hurt in Parañaque shooting

MANILA, Philippines - A laborer was killed and another badly wounded when unidentified men shot at them in Parañaque City before dawn yesterday.

Police said William Escorsuela of Barangay San Martin de Porres was declared dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa from gunshot wounds in the throat and left shoulder.

His neighbor, Leonardo Mallava, 18, was reported to be in critical condition at the South Superhighway Medical Center.

Police said the victims were shot near their houses at around 3:45 a.m. City police chief Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan ordered a deeper investigation into the incident. – Jose Rodel Clapano
