Transport group official killed in robbery
MANILA, Philippines – An official of a transport operators’ group was shot dead by three unidentified robbers in his house in Barangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa City Sunday night.
Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, Muntinlupa police chief, identified the victim as Hector Elpedio Suarez, 44, treasurer of the GT Express Victoria Chapter, a group of FX taxi operators.
A report from the Muntinlupa Police Station said the incident happened around 9:45 p.m. when three armed men arrived at the victim’s house and introduced themselves as passengers who left their bags in one of the GT Express vehicles.
It was at this point that the suspects forced their way into the house and robbed Suarez’s family of jewelry, money collected by the transport group, and other valuables.
One of the three suspects ordered Suarez to bring him to the master’s bedroom, where he shot the victim in the head. The victim was killed on the spot.
Police officers who rushed at the scene recovered a fragmented slug of an unknown caliber.
Jamias said they have launched a manhunt for the suspects. – Rhodina Villanueva
