Cops report smooth start of classes for college students

MANILA, Philippines – The National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) declared yesterday the opening of classes in the collegiate level in Metro Manila as smooth and orderly.

As of 3 p.m. yesterday, NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales said he received no report of any untoward incident at universities in the metropolis, especially in the University Belt (U-Belt) in Manila.

“My five police districts reported not a single criminal incident involving students in their areas of responsibility,” Rosales said as he directed his men not to lower their guard against criminal syndicates until the peace and order situation in Metro Manila stabilizes.

The 15,000-strong NCRPO is on full alert, with 75 percent of its forces deployed in the field to protect students against petty criminals.

“Despite our early success, we are not lowering our guards down. We are still conducting anti-crime operations in areas dubbed as crime-prone and continuously serving arrest and search warrants to sent criminals in jail so they could not victimize our students,” said Rosales. – Non Alquitran
