Blaze destroys Navy building

-

MANILA, Philippines – At least P7 million worth of properties went up in smoke in an early morning fire that hit a building at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City yesterday.

According to arson investigator Severino Sevilla, the fire started at the Philippine Navy Savings & Loan Association, Inc. building located at Gate 3 of the Bonifacio Naval Station at about 3:30 a.m.

The blaze soon reached the first alarm. Firefighters put out the flames an hour and 20 minutes later.

Initial investigation showed that the fire started near the building’s transient room and quickly spread to the adjacent parts.

While there were no injuries reported in the fire, the blaze destroyed expensive office equipment, appliances and personal computers.

Arson investigators are looking at the possibility that faulty electrical wiring triggered the fire. – Mike Frialde
