MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested one of the three men who robbed a teenage girl of valuables in Pasay City Tuesday night.
Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta identified the suspect as pedicab driver Gilbert Bonafe, 30, of Barangay 190, Don Carlos Village, Pasay City.
Petrasanta said they launched a manhunt for Bonafe’s two companions, who managed to escape.
Initial investigation showed that at about 7:30 p.m., the 16-year-old girl was walking near the Light Railway Transit’s Baclaran station along Taft Avenue when the three suspects blocked her path.
As one of the suspects pointed a bladed weapon at the victim’s neck, his two companions took the girl’s Sony Playstation Portable worth P14,000; Sony Ericsson cell phone worth P10,000 and headset worth P1,500.
The three suspects ran away but the victim shouted for help. Bonafe was arrested by police officers from the Police Community Precinct 6, and was turned over to the City Police Station.
Police recovered from Bonafe a nine-inch long knife and the victim’s cell phone. Robbery charges are being readied against the suspect. – Rhodina Villanueva
