School denies link to taxi hijacking suspect

-

MANILA, Philippines - A school said yesterday none of its students were implicated in a taxi hijacking in Quezon City before dawn Thursday.

The police said Dabu Jibreel Sinsuat, 18; Marc Lawrence Dagatan, 18; and Michael Vincent Dy, 24; and a 17-year-old male were arrested after they alleged hijacked a taxi and robbed its driver after they were brought to the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman.

A blotter entry at the UP Diliman police stated that the suspects are students at the Ateneo de Manila University, Angelicum College, and Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) Manila.

However, CCA managing director Dr. Veritas Luna said in a statement that the school never had Dy as a student or alumni.

The suspects were released hours after they were arrested after cabbie Jose Maligsa signed an affidavit of desistance, claming the incident was a “misunderstanding.” – Reinir Padua
