Body of missing cop found?
MANILA, Philippines - The Taguig police expressed belief that the dead body of a man found dumped in Rodriguez, Rizal could be that of the missing policeman that they were looking for.
Concerned Taguig police officials are now coordinating with policemen in Rodriguez, Rizal to verify initial reports that reached them that the dead body could be that of Police Officer 2 Jamaron Sandag.
Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan, Taguig police chief, said a resident found the body along with a pillow and pillowcase that bore the label “Taguig Plaza Apartelle” in San Isidro, Rodriguez town at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Sandag was reported to have been taken hostage by a group of armed men in the apartelle located in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig more than two weeks ago.
Niña, Sandag’s wife, alleged that the suspects could be envious of her husband’s Medal of Valor, which he earned for fighting it out with at least 100 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Abu Sayyaf who attacked a municipal hall and police station of Siocon in 2003.
Niña, meanwhile, was placed under the custody of the Aviation Security Group after she said her life could also be in danger.
“However, we are still verifying the report that reached us. We are still awaiting for the results of the investigation being conducted by the Scene of the Crime Operatives so that we can determine if he is really the one we are looking for,” Cascolan said.
