50 kilos of rotting meat seized at Cloverleaf market

-

MANILA, Philippines - Police seized 50 kilos of rotting “double-dead” pork loaded in a pick-up truck abandoned in front of the Cloverleaf market along EDSA before dawn yesterday.

Superintendent Norberto Babagay, commander of the Quezon City Police District-Station 1, said they burned the pork in front of the station at around 10:30 a.m. in the presence of local officials and non-government organization representatives.

Babagay said his policemen patrolled the area around the Cloverleaf market following a tip on double-dead pork, which comes from pigs that died of disease.

The police officers found the foul-smelling pork in a red pick-up truck (TEA-858), which they impounded at the station.

Babagay said they are checking with the Land Transportation Office to determine the owner of the truck.   – Reinir Padua
