MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested yesterday a sexagenarian for allegedly killing a couple in Pasig City last week.
Francisco Puso, 67, did not resist arrest when he was cornered in his home in Barangay San Joaquin.
Witnesses said Puso was seen entering a window of the home of Salvador Paranas Sr., 71, and his wife, Avelina, 63, before the victims’ bodies were discovered.
The Paranases were stabbed dead, and police recovered at the crime scene a kitchen knife witnesses said they frequently saw in Puso’s possession.
Puso, who refused to comment on the charges, allegedly stabbed the couple at the height of a heated argument over ownership of a piece of land in their barangay.
Police are readying double murder charges against Puso, who is detained at the Pasig City detention center. – Non Alquitran
