69-year-old woman run over by 2 motorbikes

MANILA, Philippines - A 69-year-old woman was killed when two speeding motorcycles hit her Thursday in Malabon City.

Vilma Nonato, a resident of Barangay Potrero, Malabon City, was declared dead on arrival at the Our Lady of Fatima Medical Center from multiple head and body injuries.

Nonato was crossing MacArthur Highway corner Del Monte Avenue in Barangay Potrero when she was hit by a motorcycle driven by Marlon de la Cruz, 31, at around 5:15 a.m.

As the old woman fell to the pavement, Reinerio Ripay, 35, who was tailing De la Cruz, ran over Nonato.

Both motorcyclists rushed Nonato to the Fatima Medical Center for treatment. They were later arrested and their motorcycles were impounded by the police. – Pete Laude
