MANILA, Philippines - A laborer was killed by an unknown suspect who stabbed him in the eye as he was sleeping in his shanty in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City yesterday morning.
The body of Tranquilino Clet, 28, was found by his mother at around 5 a.m. yesterday.
Case investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Leonardo Pasco said the mother saw her son bleeding from his left eye.
“It appeared that the suspect may have used a dagger in attacking the victim because the latter’s left eyeball almost popped (out),” Pasco told reporters.
He said the manner of killing was “very unusual” as compared to most homicide cases he has handled.
“The suspect could have just attacked him in the body but why did he target the victim’s eye?” Pasco asked.
Police said the victim was last seen alive at around 9 p.m. Monday. – Reinir Padua
