1 hurt in Makati blast

MANILA, Philippines - A security guard was wounded after a grenade exploded in the parking lot of a restaurant in Makati City Friday afternoon.

Police said Joey Baui, 34, a security guard of the Cococabana Restaurant on Kalayaan Avenue, sustained minor injuries.

Police Officer 3 Rico Caramat said Baui was on duty at the parking area when a grenade exploded at around 5:50 p.m.

No one was hurt except for Baui. Caramat said a car owned by customer Gemaima de Guzman was partially damaged.

He said Baui told them he saw a suspicious-looking man on a bicycle before the explosion.

Caramat said they are conducting a follow-up investigation to track down the suspect and determine the motive behind the attack. – Rhodina Villanueva
