Teacher loses P.5-million jewelry to burglars

-

MANILA, Philippines - Burglars stole P500,000 worth of assorted jewelry from the house of a male teacher in Las Piñas City Wednesday night, police said.

Police Officer 3 Ralph Morelos said Glen Cipin, 52, of Gatchalian Subdivision in Manuyo Dos, reported the incident to the police after he discovered the heist when he arrived home from work.

He said the suspects broke a glass window and entered the house.

Two security guards reportedly saw the suspects go out of the victim’s house. They shouted at the burglars but the suspects escaped on board a motorcycle.

Morelos said the suspects were not able to bring with them two laptops, which they left in the backyard.

Cipin’s neighbor, Ybette Vargas, told police she alerted the guards after she noticed two suspicious-looking men loitering around the victim’s house.

The police said they are conducting a follow-up investigation to track down the two suspects. – Rhodina Villanueva
