Dead baby found in creek

-

The police are investigating the death of a five-month-old baby boy found floating in a creek in Las Piñas City Friday afternoon.

Police Officer 2 Bobbie Imbo identified the baby as Simon Kyle of Daffodil street, Burgundy in Barangay Pulang Lupa Dos.

Imbo said Marilou Flor de Castro, who lives near the creek, was the one who noticed Kyle floating in the DBP creek around 2 p.m.

De Castro immediately asked help from her neighbors, who rescued Kyle from the water and brought him to the Las Piñas Doctors Hospital. The baby was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said they are still searching for the baby’s parents, who will be subjected to questioning. – Rhodina Villanueva

Lim tells cops to end gang wars in Manila

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim ordered the Manila Police District (MPD) yesterday to put an end to gang wars in Manila, as he cited that records of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) show that over 30 street gangs have caused trouble in Metro Manila.

In a statement, Lim said he directed MPD director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales to reorganize the MPD as he found its performance wanting against crime and the worsening activities of street gangs.

Lim said PAOCC Commissioner Grepor Belgica’s report named the most notorious among the more than 30 street gangs as Trece Hudas, Tau Gamma Phi fraternity, the Bulabog Boys and Walang Sawa sa Alak (WASALAK).

He said most of these gangs are not only involved in crimes such as robbery and drug trafficking, but also fight over territory and control of illegal sources of livelihood. – Sandy Araneta

PCG commandant Vice Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo said in a statement that they arrested the 36 fishermen on board fishing vessels Morgan Joy and Pamela Kevin at 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 29 for allegedly violating Sections 89 and 90 of the Fisheries Code, which bans fishing with fine mesh nets and active gear in municipal waters.

Appropriate charges will be filed against them before the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office, the PCG said. – Evelyn Macairan
