Body parts found in Quezon City, Manila

-

The severed body parts of a man believed to be a victim of summary execution were found in heaps of garbage in Quezon City and Manila yesterday morning.

A left leg and right hand were found among piles of garbage at the Payatas dumpsite, said case investigator Police Officer 3 Juancho Flores.

According to Flores, the severed limbs were discovered by scavenger Arnel Alipio at around 7:29 a.m.

“The body parts were wrapped in a black cellophane sheet,” Flores said.

In Sampaloc, Manila, a man’s torso, wrapped in black plastic and placed in a corrugated carton box, was found in a garbage pile at dawn yesterday. The torso had no identifying marks.

SPO3 Edison Bertoldo said the arms, legs and head were crudely cut off.

Flores said the body parts could belong to a victim of summary execution, noting that the manner the limbs were cut could not have been part of a medical procedure, as in the case of patients suffering from severe diabetes.

“We’re investigating if these parts and the ones found in Manila also today belong to the same person,” Flores said.

He noted that the severed right hand had a tattoo of the zodiac sign Aquarius.

Chief Inspector Alberto Peco, who heads the Manila Police District’s homicide section, directed his men to look for people who could have seen the ones who threw away the torso. – Reinir Padua, Nestor Etolle
